Review: Axiom’s End by Lindsay Ellis

Sci-fi. A first contact story set in 2007. The protagonist is the estranged oldest daughter of a narcissistic publish-all-the-leaks anti-government guy. He releases a leaked memo indicating that the US government has been covering up the existence of extraterrestrial life on earth, but she has no interest in this and wants nothing to do with any of it or with her father. But she gets swept into the centre of events and ends up being the only person through whom the aliens will communicate. Smart, with a good eye for how the social world works and how individual human beings and powerful human institutions might relate to first contact. Good worldbuilding, good story, would recommend.
