Review: Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake

I have read several books by this author before, all middle-grade, and really, really liked them, so there was no way I wasn’t going to read this one, her first book aimed at adults. The titular Delilah, a big-city photographer who doesn’t do relationships, goes back to the small town where she grew up to shoot her estranged step-sister’s wedding, and ends up having an unexpected connection with one of her sister’s besties. Light, fun, and clever. While that romantic relationship is at the centre, a range of other (and other kinds of) relationships are treated like they matter, and the characters get to be messy and real. Hits the expected beats, of course, and doesn’t make you work too hard, but it has the same deft storytelling as her earlier books, and it is just as successful in delivering a satisfying emotional journey and a feel-good ending.
